Susan B. Williams was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan.  Ms. Williams then attended Wake Forest University School of Law in North Carolina where she received her Juris Doctorate degree in 1983.  At Wake Forest, Ms. Williams was on the Moot Court Board and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts Law. After interning with a Michigan District Court Judge, the Prosecutors’ office in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and a Bankruptcy attorney in North Carolina, Ms. Williams joined Furey, Furey, Leverage, Manzione, Williams & Darlington, P.C.  She has been a partner in the firm since 1995. 

Ms. Williams was admitted to practice law in New York in 1984.  She has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York and the United States District Court, Southern District of New York since 1985.  Ms. Williams’ litigation and trial experience include cases involving medical malpractice and other negligence claims in the Supreme Courts of the State of New York in the Counties of Nassau, Suffolk, New York, Bronx, Kings and Queens as well as the United District Courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts.  She has written several appellate briefs and argued before the First and Second Departments. 

Ms. Williams is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and the Trial Lawyers Association of Nassau and Suffolk Counties.  She is also a member of the New York State Women’s Bar Association and the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association.  She is a past Director of the Women’s Bar Association of Nassau County.  Ms. Williams has lectured to the insurance defense communities on medical malpractice issues at seminars sponsored by Furey, Furey, Leverage, Manzione, Williams & Darlington, P.C., and for the Nassau County legal community.

Ms. Williams is very active in community affairs.  She is  on the Board of Directors for the Twigs charitable organization and is a past President of Twigs.  Twigs is a branch of the Winthrop University Hospital Auxiliary, and raises money for Winthrop University Hospital pediatric programs.   Ms Williams has been involved in several major fundraising events with Twigs as well as with other not for profit organizations.  She is, and has been, very involved with the local PTA and has, over the years, had many different jobs in the PTA.  She is a past Director of SEPTA (Special Education Parent-Teacher Association), the Central Property Owners’ Association of Garden City, one of the local governing bodies in Garden City, and Operation Get Ahead, a local charity providing events and positive role models for children and adolescence in surrounding underprivileged areas.  She is a member of the Kappa, Kappa, Gamma sorority, the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and Planned Parenthood.  

Ms. Williams resides in Garden City, New York with her husband and three wonderful children.
